Instructions for completing the Millicent G. Graves Memorial Scholarships Application
1. Applicant must identify as female and be a graduating high school student or a high
school graduate, who has been accepted for admission to or is a student currently enrolled in
either North Carolina Central University or another Historically Black College or University, or
Wilson Community College.
2. The Awards will consist of either a grant of $1000 for attendance at an Historically Black
College or University, a $1000 for attendance at North Carolina Central University, or a $500
book stipend for Wilson Community College. The Applicant must state the Scholarship for
which they are applying. Applicant may apply for all awards but can only receive one award per
academic year.
3. Applicant must have at least a 3.0 (non-weighted) grade point average on a 4.0 grade
point scale. If the school does not use the 4.0 grade point scale, student must be able to convert
it and show how the conversion was made.
4. Applicant must complete the application form in its entirety.
5. Applicant must submit WITH the application form the following:
a) A current official high school issued transcript or official college issued transcript, as
applicable.
b) An essay between 500 to 1000 words typed describing her educational/career goals
and the reasons they feel deserving of the scholarship.
c) At least One but not more than Three recommendation letters.

6. Application form must be signed by the applicant, and parent or guardian/caregiver, if
applicant is under 18 years of age.
7. Completed application form must be received by May 2.
8. The scholarships will be awarded on June 1.
NOTE: IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE APPLICANT TO FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS OUTLINED ABOVE. INCOMPLETE APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE PROCESSED.
